Sangenís I Vaqué2005 Porrera - JovenType: Young red Tasting Notes: Strawberries, cherries, backed blackberry pie and licorice. The ripe sweetness of the fruit comes forward on the palate and shows spicy, supple and juicy brooding fruit. Impressive with a long, chewy licorice finish. Other Notes: Pure, lovely, dense Priorat fruit. This joven wine “Porrera” is named for the town where the vineyards are located and contains Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah. 2004 Vintage - Wine & Spirits– June, 2006 – 91 points 2004 Vall PorType: Red Tasting Notes: Aromas of black pepper, dark, tart cherries, licorice. Sweet smelling. Nice integration of fruit and oak, some meaty notes and black tea. On the palate dark and juicy, silky, dark cherry, pretty smooth but big… good acidity, a little angular; but this will flesh out with time. Earl grey tea on finish (MP). Other Notes: Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Syrah, Garnacha and Cariñena from a single vineyard called Vall Por. This deep, structured wine is aged in 20% American oak and 80% French oak barrels for 12 months. 2000 Clos MonlleóType: Red Notes: This limited production Priorat is produced with 50% Cariñena grapes from 50–80-year-old vines and with 50% Garnacha grapes from over 20-year-old vines. After a maceration of 31 days, the wine was aged 12 months in new French oak barrels. Total of 740 cases produced. Decanter– April, 2004 – Top Ten Spanish Wines |
