Viña Ijalba2006 / 2007 Genoli – BlancoType: Young white Tasting Notes: Other Notes: 100% Organic Viura.Clean and refreshing with pleasant acidity. Shows melon rind and citrus aromas with some traces of stone / mineral. Ideal wine with light salads, ceviche and shellfish or simply as an aperitif. 2006 Aloque – RosadoType: Rosado Tasting Notes: Other Notes: 50% Garnacha and 50% Tempranillo. All organic fruit in this crisp, dry rosé. Shows lovely red berry fruit and is ideal with spicy food. Serve chilled. 2006 Livor TintoType: Young Red Tasting Notes: Nice cherry and cassis nose with soft aromatics. Well-balanced with gentle acids and tannins providing a smooth finish. Great with grilled or spicy foods. Other Notes: Traditional Rioja varietals (Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo) crafted without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers. 100% organic fruit. Modern but classic Spanish Rioja wine. 2004 GracianoType: Aged red Tasting Notes: Earthy and spicy with notes of green and black peppercorn, iron oxide and a delicate floral presence on the nose. Nice, smooth finish. Graceful. Other Notes: Very low producing varietal and only 160 hectares remain in Rioja. Very unique wine - first 100% Graciano wine produced. 100% organic fruit without herbicides or chemical fertilizers. 2005 Tempranillo BlancoType: Aged white Tasting Notes: Really dry, crisp white with lots of snappy citrusy flavors unmarred by any oak. Great with rich seafood dishes and salty Iberican ham. Only Tempranillo Blanco in the world! (MP) Other Notes: 100% Organic Tempranillo Blanco. The vines for this wine were propagated from several Tempranillo vines that had adapted and started growing colorless, i.e., Tempranillo Blanco. The very first time that this wine has been made! 2003 Dionisio Ruiz Ijalba - Maturana TintoType: Aged red Tasting Notes: Other Notes: Produced from 100% Maturana Tinta. This varietal was first documented in 1622 and was nearly extinct until rescued by Viña Ijalba who has planted approximately 6000 vines of this rare and unique grape. This wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 13 months. 800 cases produced. 90 points - Wine & Spirits – December, 2007 1995 Reserva EspecialType: Red Tasting Notes: Other Notes: This Reserva "Special Selection" represents the highest example of quality from Viña Ijalba and is the only wine in the world composed of 50% Graciano and 50% Tempranillo varietals. This "Alta Expresion" wine comes from grapes harvested by hand from the oldest and least productive vineyards followed by a secondary cluster selection in the winery. Barrel fermented and then aged in new French oak barrels for 2 years followed by an additional 2 years bottle ageing before be released from the winery. |
