Bodega Luzdivina Amigo2003 Viñademoya, Leiros SelecciónType: Special Aged Red Tasting Notes: French oak is subtle and provides a nice platform for raspberry / blackberry tart, coffee, orange peel, cinnamon and licorice. The palate is full, textural and spicy with a hint of Fernet Branca. Open several hours before drinking and / or decant to fully experience the rich aromas of this wine. Other Notes: In Bierzo, the term “leiro”, is used to describe the small, low-yield vineyards throughout the region; each with their own particular micro-climate and unique personality. This special wine, “Leiros”, is made from a small number of these exceptional vineyards, all over 100-years of age, in an area called Viñademoya. Altitude for these vineyards is between 650 and 750 m. and some of these Leiros have a slope over 25%. Additionally, the vineyards in Viñademoya probably represent the largest number of pre-phylloxera vines in El Bierzo region. This special wine is then aged in French oak for 14 months before being bottled and cellared for an additional 18 months. Total of 4,500 bottles produced. Wine & Spirits– February, 2007 – 91 points |
